Replacement T60 Battery
Replacement T60 Battery
Hi everyone,
My battery has completely died, although Windows states it charges and is currently at 100%.
When I disconnect the power lead and try to turn on the power nothing happens.
My question is this - will a replacement battery from eBay do or shall I folk out a lot more or an official Lenovo battery?
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Willis.

Re: Replacement T60 Battery
I always advise against use of generic batteries and would much rather buy a genuine used one than a new aftermarket example.

Thanks.
One last thing.
Would you uninstall and reinstall in Safe Mode in order to prevent the unintended reinstallation of a default driver? Or does the uninstallation and deletion of the ATI/Catalyst folder prevent this?
Cheers

That's *exactly* why I wrote what I did.

Re:
I've bought some on eBay and have generally been disappointed. I am currently using a 9-cell Rayovac sold at Batteries Plus, and it has been very satisfactory - it seems to be as good as the Lenovo 9-cell that it replaced.Willis wrote:Has anyone had any experience with aftermarket replacement batteries?

I have alsoajkula66 wrote: Has anyone had any experience with aftermarket replacement batteries?
- two T30 batteries which lasted for 1-2 years (several years ago)
- three T60 batteries of which 2 have lasted 1-2 years already and are still good. Third battery was mechanically loose and half of the battery died after few weeks but seller returned half of the price (due to mechanical connection problem).
- One battery on way for T400, no experience yet
But: Lenovo batteries are quite expensive in Finland. With lower price I would definetely buy orginal battery.
600E (P3-850Mhz), 3*T60 (3*T7200), T400 (8600Mhz/8GB/SSD120GB), T420 (4180-CA3 with Samsung 850 mSATA 250GB)
Replacement T60 Battery
Thanks for sharing everyone, it seems very hit and miss with these batteries but I think I may as we'll give it a try.
Thanks again everyone.

Re: Replacement T60 Battery
I'll second everyone's comments that aftermarket batteries are not as good as a genuine battery. However, aftermarket batteries are so cheap that, for me, it's worth taking the risk. Like everyone else I've some some good ones and some real duds.
After experiencing more than my fair share of duds I've found a good vendor supplying decent quality batteries (laptopz-outlet). Of the 10 or so I've ordered from them I've been very happy with all of it....knocking, cutting and sucking on wood. The prices of aftermarkets are cheap enough that I can justify ordering a new one every 2 years and still be ahead.
After saying that, my best battery purchasing experience have been genuine used Lenovo battery with Panasonic cells bought right here in the marketplace from TuuS. If you can get one of these, this is the best way to go.

Re: Replacement T60 Battery
I have had three aftermarket batteries.
The first one was for my T60. It was poor quality, and caused some odd problems for the laptop.
I have a generic 9 cell for my netbook and it routinely gets 10hours of battery life. Also have a generic in my T61 and it works great!
It's a crapshoot to be honest.
