My trusty T-43/Linux, connected to AC, was completely dead after a night of power outages.
Using my equally trusty T-61 (which was not connected to AC at the time) I found the solution right here. I'd noticed it many times before but paid little attention. A reminder re the solution:
1) remove battery
2) disconnect AC power
3) press "start" button ten times and then hold for 30 seconds.
4) reinstall battery and/or AC supply.
I'll take the time later to learn why this voodoo works. I'm posting this only to remind other users of this solution that happened to work for me..

Re: T-43 dead after power-outage/brownouts REMINDER FOR THE FIX!
What that achieves is a discharge of the laptop's capacitors.
It is also called a 'hard reset'.
It's not voodoo, and this trick has been known for donkeys years.
Instead of: press "start" button ten times and then hold for 30 seconds
just do this: press "start" button once and then hold for 15 seconds.
This will achieve the very same.
