T60 startup/shutdown

#1 Post by hhmcsv » Sun Oct 06, 2013 7:11 am

I recently posted this: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=111512 thinking that the problem encountered was related to Win8 and the fast startup-procedure which Microsoft at last found out to make :D
But after a few fresh installs on two different HDD, I decided to move along to another T60, which is now running flawlessly.
So the problem is still there on the T60 model 2007-FVG, 15-inch flexview. And I have now tried a few other cures to no avail.
1. As I said above, change of HDD did not do any difference
2. Installation of Ubuntu 12.04 is of course different, but still there seem to be an error (every other time) in the startup, saying that the drive for the file folder /TMP is not found. But after a few seconds wait, the machine is working "normal". However, as in W8, occasionally the machine stops with error messages.

3. I suspected BIOS could be the problem, so I updated the BIOS - no difference.

So I expect this to be a HW-fault, MB? Any ideas to what could be the problem?
