R52 bluetooth antenna - what could work?

#1 Post by 86turbodsl » Sun Oct 06, 2013 9:47 am

Looking to upgrade my R52 to bluetooth,

Epay has only one R52 antenna listed, sorry, but i'm not paying that much for a used wire with a plate soldered on it. Are there any other antennas fit that 15" Rx series lid, or can i just get creative and use anything metal and shape it to fit? I have a metal shop, i suppose i could take a dime a dozen T4x antenna and cut or whatever to fit the R52 spot on the lid. Thoughts?

BTW,

Thanks for the help guys, this is a pretty cool forum and lots of knowledge here.

From what I recall...

You can use any R5* BT antenna, a T4x one is likely to be shorter and I'm not certain that it would work.

It's been a while since I've last looked into this aspect, so take my post with a grain of salt...

Anybody got a good close up picture of the antenna? I'm thinking it's just a conductor with a braided shield and the conductor is just soldered to the antenna plate, but I'm not 100%. There's no antenna's available anywhere but that one $35 one on epay. I'll put in the card and a hacked up T4x wire and plate made from a cut up tin can before i give that much for an antenna.

That amount of money would likely get you an entire lid around here...minus the IPS screen.

Have you checked for the antenna under the modem card?

The R52 is COMPLETELY disassembled. I'm an engineer. I couldn't resist... 8)

There's no antenna.
