W500/510/520 and W700/710 series specific matters only

Can thinkpad w510 format ssd to gpt?

I just got a new 120G ssd , and I tried to format it ,it asked me format to MBR or GPT , Can I format it with GPT, mine is thinkpad w510 ,try to install windows 8 on it.Thanks!

I won't claim to actually know the answer to your question,but....if you need an UEFI BIOS to boot a GPT partition (as seems to be the case), then no, it was the T/W420/520 series that first had that sort of BIOS.
