WTB - X201 W7 PRO "recoverypackage"

#1 Post by WVZR1 » Thu Oct 10, 2013 9:19 am

My 3626 -FBU hard-drive was replaced and a W7 install done but I'm interested in a 4 -disc (I believe) package for an original build. It's a 64-bit W7PRO machine and I believe the FRU # 58Y3905 is correct. Your more than welcome to "correct me" if I'm wrong but Lenovo mentions also that's what I need.

I had posted this earlier with only the FRU# in the title and didn't bother with a description. That was likely foolish on my part. I would likely consider also a 32-bit "recovery package".

Unless you are looking for "second hand" disks for some reason, you should be able to get what you need here at this specific Lenovo site:

https://www.lenovorecovery.com/Extranet/Home.aspx

hope this helps,

A.

I'd be very careful with that site, it looks like a very good imitation of a real Lenovo webpage.

It's registered in Slovakia to:

S&T Slovakia s.r.o.
Mlynske Nivy 43/A
Bratislava, SK 821 09
SK

Discs can be purchased directly from Lenovo.

There were also no English versions and I wouldn't have been that foolish anyway! I realize that I can do the Lenovo "direct" but thought I'd attempt to save something and perhaps someone had and didn't require it any longer. I've done a build using a "retail" package and I'm OK with that I believe.

I've considered a resale of the machine and thought I might like to put it back to "out of the box" for an interested buyer.

If a user had a package I might still be interested but I'd say there's "no rush"!

Uhm...
I did order the disks for win 7 Pro 64bit on this site about two years ago for my X201s, and I paid and received the disk with no problems at that time. I have to say I haven't used the disks until now since I have already an installed system on my laptop.
But nothing both on the site, on the procedure or in the disks I received let me think this could be an illegale site.

I really don't remember in which way I found the site at that time (I did order the CDs directly from Lenovo for a T41p many years ago so I can't exclude I did phone to Lenovo to do the same... ).

If this is an illegal site I can't believe it is "working and functioning freely" since more than two years without Lenovo discovering it and asking to close it.

BTW, the DHL envelope I received with the disks was from Orleans Cedex France, from Moduslink.
The invoice "Customer : IBM11" just for 3 euros (the prices of the disk).

Now I am really curious to know if this is really Lenovo or not.

A.
p.s. english it is available for X201 family and win7 64 bit.

inserting your family, type and model numbers and and selecting win 7 pro 64
I get more than 8 languages (english included).

(again, I have no idea if this is a legal or illegal site)

When visiting the "site" the first time I just checked the pricing and the "available" countries and $$'s were all something in Europe and I did misstate the "no English" - I never got that far knowing that I could already do the buy from Lenovo direct here in the US.

I actually can't say that the "site" is anything other than a legitimate posting by probably a contracted Lenovo vendor BUT if I were in the countries serviced by them I'd likely check and confirm it before buying. The "poster" that referred me there I don't doubt has bought from them and received great service.
