I have an R61 which has a bad screen - there is a gray vertical line about 5mm 1/5" wide with 1 pixel green edge to the right.
I have swapped the motherboard, I have tried another LCD cable, I also tried the screen on T60p and gray line is still present.
Since I've sunk enough into this that it's worth to bring it to working order, I need a new screen and I noticed WUXGA and SXGA+ (this 15" R61 has SXGA+ and intel motherboard) cost almost the same.
Would WUXGA from T61p/W500/Z61p fit?
Is LCD cable the same?

Re: Would WUXGA screen fit on R61
Yes for the screen.
No for the cable. Since R61 was never offered with WUXGA, you'll have to mod a cable from T or Z, since it might not be long enough...
Happy FrankenPadding.

NO WAY for that screen!
If yours is a 15" screen with SXGA+, then anything starting with a W will NOT fit!
Those W-screens llike WXGA, WSXGA+, WUXGA etc. are WIDEscreen models.
What is the TYPE and Model of that R61?

Re: Would WUXGA screen fit on R61
It's a wide 15,4" WSXGA+. I'll check out the Type tomorrow.
Originally had nVidia but I swapped board for Intel as it didn't work.
I tried the WSXGA+ screen from R61 in 14" T60p with SXGA+. The cable connector fit to motherboard and screen worked (line that was there on R61 was still there on T60p. (I just took off keyboard, keyboard bezel and unplugged T60p screen, plugged R61 screen in and I saw BIOS and Windows booting. The line in the screen is there with both laptops and with two different LCD cables.).
I'm asking this because I saw WUXGA LCD for T61p / W500 on ebay and the T61 and R61 are pretty much the same. WUXGA costs 60-80 EUR, while SXGA+ costs 55-65 EUR.
