Sent a couple R32s on their way...

#1 Post by lparsons » Mon Oct 14, 2013 4:01 pm

I realized that I hadn't updated my signature in a while here, I am no longer with my R32s:

R32 - 2658-A7U: P4m 1.6Ghz, 2GB/250GB, XPP / FBSD 7.2 - 7+ years old and still ticking
R32 - 2658-BXU: P4m 1.5Ghz, 128MB/80GB, XPP; mostly for parts

That said, I do again have two thinkpads in the stable, and for the first time they are of two different lines. I recently picked up an X201 from ebay that had a very pleasant surprise in it by way of a 300gb sdd (instead of the 120gb they listed it with). The R32s found new homes via craigslist; I sold them dirt cheap as a package deal as I couldn't get windows to run on them (which I was doing only for the purpose of selling them) and didn't want to put time into them as I had other priorities. Buyer contacted me a few days later and said he got them both running, which was good to hear as he traveled a fair distance - back in December, no less - to pick them up from me.
T510 - 4313-CTO: New from Lenovo January 2011. Core i5, Discrete Graphics, 8GB RAM, 320GB HD, 9 Cell. Win7 when I must, Kubuntu when I can
R32 - 2658-A7U: P4m 1.6Ghz, 2GB/250GB, XPP / FBSD 7.2 - 7+ years old and still ticking
R32 - 2658-BXU: P4m 1.5Ghz, 128MB/80GB, XPP; mostly for parts

Good to hear you've moved on, and good to hear your R32s are still being used. It's always a plus to hear if even the most useless Thinkpads are finding a good place in the world.

R3x series doesn't sit well with me... I had an R31 and it was without a doubt the most horrid Thinkpad I've ever owned. I bought it a couple years ago for $10 from a sidewalk sale, and put Windows XP on it. I lent it to my friend, but then he reported the machine was randomly shutting down, and I couldn't trace the source of the problem(it wasn't overheating, or a short).

R3x may be the worst Thinkpads to own, ever, but they are still Thinkpads, so we must treat them as family.
Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...

and yes. I am a bit of a lunatic.
