Recovery media X201 supplemental disk

#1 Post by davidgurvich » Thu Oct 24, 2013 9:32 am

I've recently had to reinstall the operating system on an X201. I had a stroke of luck in finding a 3 disk set including OS and drivers for Win 7 Pro.

During installation I was asked to install a 4th disk, supplemental. Does anyone know what is on this or where to get it?

The installation went forward without any problems, ignoring the lack of a supplemental disk. In previous installations the lack of a disk would mean that the installation failed and whatever I had on the disk before was gone. What is the minimum number of disks that one would need for a bare install? Is just the first disk enough?

The x201 Recovery set is only three disks with no supplemental disc - just say NO and skip it.

For fun, I've tried installing only using the first disc and Windows seemed to boot fine with some TP stuff but I never went any further, don't like Recovery installations.
