Certified reuseable part

#1 Post by precip9 » Fri Oct 25, 2013 1:44 pm

I bought a WUXGA panel from a seller in Israel, a Samsung 42T057. It was advertised as new. The actual delivery was a "certified reusable part", in neat factory packaging, with IBM (not Lenovo) sealing tape, and various p/n and other stickers applied to the antistatic bag. It has a "manufacture date" of 2/2013.

I am more curious than complaining. Compared to the numerous offerings of Chinese panels probably salvaged or made in garage shops, this may be the better choice. But I am curious about the provenance. Do you think:

1. This is a dump from an IBM extended support operation?
2. It is just a sophisticated fraud, using stolen packaging materials?

My guess is choice number one. I know IBM leases ThinkPad's and offers a lot of valueadd in customer support. They also do their own refurbishing once the units come off-lease. Perhaps they had some extra parts left over.

I went through all his shop, he has some nice stuff but nothing that i need for the laptops.... i may email him in case he has what i want and not listed in the shop though

Googling for "component4all" and "ראשון לציון" (the name of the city where they are located according to Ebay) found what looks like their website : http://www.bestrade.co.il . According to the website they are a computer leasing company, and the Ebay shop is full of components from laptops/workstations/servers. Probably thats the answer

Thanks for showing me this guy
