I need something that I can run multiple Linux distributions on and plays 720 video via VLC flawlessly. Not worried about condition as long as she works. Drop a PM with any offers or suggestions. The budget is tight this year unfortunately.

Re: WTB: Budget Thinkpad $250 And Under
It sounds as though you are looking for large drive space and ram. I might suggest a T400 or R400 with a big drive and 8GB ram. You may be able to squeeze into an early (i5) t410 machine for that price, but not sure how much ram and HD you could get into for that price. Are you running the distros simultaneously with KVM or virtual machine or a multi-boot system with just one running at a time?

Multi-boot. I'm less concerned with drive space since I really don't have a ton of files. What matters is grabbing the best machine for my buck. I like your i5 idea. Ram I can always upgrade later.DRobinson wrote:It sounds as though you are looking for large drive space and ram. I might suggest a T400 or R400 with a big drive and 8GB ram. I agree on the 400, a T400/T500 can be had for reasonable money and with whatever is left you can max out the memory.
R500, X300, R60.
In various states: T520, X60T, R61, R40 1.5, upcoming R/T61 Frankenpad
