All the preconfigured models had SXGA+ for 14", UXGA for 15".
However, it is possible that some special corporate orders were manufactured, with XGA (1024x768).

Re: was T42p ever available with 1024x768 display?
A machine with a custom screen would have the -CTO suffix (i.e. 2374-CTO, possibly). I looked up the CTO machines and 2373-CTO is a T40, 2374-CTO is a T40, 2378-CTO is a T42, and 2379-CTO is a T42.
A CTO system could have anything, i.e. ATI FireGL graphics and XGA LCD, but according to the parts lookup (page 212) a CTO system with ATI M10 GL-128 it would have been labeled T42, not T42p.
I have been looking at the repair manual and the -CTO machine had some wild-[censored] crazy stuff, like fake batteries, 20 GB disks, 128MB ram sticks, gigE on a T40, NO TOUCH PAD, and all sorts of other unusual parts :

Incidentally, I don't remember where I saw it but a huge number of T42's were sold with SXGA+ screens, it was more popular than the XGA screen overall, I believe.

Lots of thinkpads (10+) but I would never be so stupid as to list them all because that would spam everybody's searches and people who *do* try to list them all would be jerks.
