Presentation Director problems

#1 Post by pipspeak » Fri Jun 18, 2004 11:45 am

I'm using the presentation director utility to switch between the LCD and an external monitor (via dvi on Port Replicator II) but cannot get it to automatically recognize when my T40 is dock or undocked.

I have it set to "apply this setting automatically when docked" but it doesn't. And I have it set to "disable schemes that use an external monitor when none are attached" but it doesn't. So everytime I take the laptop in the road I have to manually change the display settings, then manually change them back when I return.

Do I need the actual TP dock to make this work, or should it work with the port replicator that I use? I'm using the latest version of the presentation director (well, latest as of April 04, anyway) on WinXP.

Any help appreciated.

Have you figured out a solution to this problem? I am having the exact same difficulties and cannot figure it out either...

From other postings, it seems that the Port Replicator II does not count as a "dock" and can't be detected.

IIRC, I tried to use a standard (CRT) monitor for a client with a ThinkPad on a port replicator and there was no way to save the settings. Default laptop settings cause a CRT to pulse with lights (most annoying). I convinced them to use LCD flat panels and they are most happy. ... JD Hurst

I saw that after I posted here. Looks like I'll just have to live with it. Thanks anyways-
