replacement fan and LCD for T400-2767-31u
Can anyone give any tips to ordering the right parts? I have switchable graphics. Any good sites to order from? My fan is getting loud and overheating to the point of shutdown every couple of days and my LCD was cracked by having the screen closed on top of an ear bud. I love my T400 and want to get it fixed. I'm comfortable doing the repair, especially with all the videos and manuals available, but need help on making sure I get the right parts.

There are 2 screen types: CCFL and LED.
You need to find out what you have by going here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... ookup.page
type in your T400 Serial Number (without the dash, found on the laptop bottom or in BIOS) and Type (2767).
You'll see a parts list of your laptop, with the Mfg P/N and FRU P/N.
Find the numbers of your LCD (probably listed there as 14.1WXGA) and post them here.
You have only 1280x800, but you could upgrade to 1440x900.
The fan loudness is most likely from running at its top speed due to the overheating.
Remove the fan, clean up fan/CPU and possibly GPU with Isopropyl Alcohol, then apply fresh AS5 thermal paste in the size of a rice corn, spread it evenly over the CPU surface (do the same for GPU if required), and reassemble.
