My friend's T400 (ATI + 1440x900) has died and needs a new board.
I have 2 questions:
1. What is the most common reason these laptops die, is it the ATI VGA? If yes, are the Intel GMA versions more reliable?
2. Is the Intel version compatible with the 1440x900 LCD? AFAIK most models were Intel + 1280x800 and ATI + 1440x900 combination. Was it possible to CTO an Intel + 1440x900 combination?
Thanks!
T400 board dead, Intel VGA + 1440x900 compatible?

Re: T400 board dead, Intel VGA + 1440x900 compatible?
T400/T500 don't suffer from any common GPU failure. Probably just unlucky that it died which can and do happen to most anything. An Intel GPU board and 1440x900 LCD will work just fine. My T400 is configured this way.
