R61 8933-AN3 Wireless Card Not Found After W7 Install

#1 Post by deadzoo » Wed Nov 13, 2013 1:30 pm

I did a clean install of Windows 7 and now my wireless card is not recognized. Wireless worked with XP before installing W7. I have tried two Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG`s and an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN all removed from IBM`s and verified to be functioning properly. I also have flashed the BIOS using Middleton`s mod, used the Lenovo System Updater and I've installed and uninstalled the wireless drivers from Lenovo and from Intel by extracting the file to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLANINT and then executing the Autorun.exe from the created folder and also by the add Legacy Hardware context menu in the Device Manager. I`ve tried driver only and driver + software, with and without ThinkVantage Access Connections, with and without hotkey driver, but the system still cannot see the wireless card.

I installed 6hwc05ww.exe, now in the Device Manager, the card is listed under Network Adapters with a yellow triangle & exclamation mark icon and has an error code 31 (Windows cannot load drivers) in the device properties.

The wireless switch is in the on position, fn + f5 pops up a message box saying no card found or something to that effect and wireless is enabled in the BIOS.

Please help, I`m out of ideas, your time and efforts will be appreciated.

How about try booting a linux distro from a usb (slitaz comes to mind, as it takes the least amount of time to download and prepare) and hit

Code: Select all

lspci
in a terminal and see if the wlan card is listed there. Since, the card was working with XP and assuming you did not touch the hardware in between, it has to be a software-related (drivers) issue in 7.
