T440s and X1 Carbon displays

#1 Post by sjahanmi » Thu Dec 12, 2013 4:00 pm

I've heard some critiques of the T440s and X1 Carbon touch screens having the "screen door effect." What does this mean? Are they talking about the extra protective cover that goes over the main display? Are people not happy with this style or do most people not really care one way or another? Why did Lenovo chose this design ? are there pros and cons to it?

I think that the term screen door effect is in reference to viewing angles, particularly vertical viewing angles. It certainly isn't a problem limited to the T440s and X1 Carbon Touch, as a great majority of ThinkPads have this issue.

Right, I definitely have to agree with you on that...its the extreme viewing angels when the screen door effect is noticeable. I really can't tell when looking at the screen straight.
