Dead T61 Nvidia
Dead T61 Nvidia
I got a T61 (widescreen 14.1 1440x900) that did not boot. Thinking it just needs a reflow i did reflow. After few boots it died again and i went to search for answers
Now that i read about the Nvidia issue, i want to replace the board
What i cant find is :
- What FRUs are Intel boards that i can use ?
- Does the Nvidia heatsink fit the Intel boards ? (ie are the CPU and Northbridge in the same spots ?)
- Are there any AMD GPU boards ?
- Can standard T60 (4:3) board be used in the T61 ? (what issues if it can ?)

Re: Dead T61 Nvidia
Check MM for FRU. Don't know of it off the top of my head myself.
Your old HSF will be fine.
No AMD GPU in the T61.
I guess you can because a T601 Frankenpad is a T61 4:3 MB in a T60 4:3 15" Flexview. Essential you are asking if the opposite can be done and I don't see why not. Why one would want to do this I don't know? T60 MB can only accommodate 3 GB RAM, slower CPU and only SATA I speed. Being able to flash Middleton's BIOS on a T61 is a benefit.

Not on a widescreen unit.- Can standard T60 (4:3) board be used in the T61 ? (what issues if it can ?)

Re: Dead T61 Nvidia
The MM (for 14.1 widescreen models) does list only Nvidia boards for the compuyter type i have (7663 CTO)
Intel boards are listed for other types (14.1 widescreen as well, but not 7663 CTO)
Does it mean that they match or not ?
Now, the MM lists total 6 Intel boards, of them 2 are "Without 1394 for R series" and 4 "With 1394 for T series". It is not clear to me though what is the difference between the 4 boards for T series. Are there significant differences ?
And one more thought. Doesnt the chipset in my dead Nvidia board have a disabled Intel GPU in the chipset ? Is it possible to hack the board to use the Intel ?

Re: Dead T61 Nvidia
Slightly off topic but does the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M in a T61P have the same potential problem as the NVIDIA 140 GPU?
