Information about T42/T43 peripherals

#1 Post by Rayon » Sat May 14, 2005 7:02 pm

Hello all,

I'm contemplating buying a new laptop and the T42 seems to be the one for me. I'm going through the IBM web site trying to figure out what to add and I stumbled across this Multiburner drive (P/N: 73P3295). However I can't seem to find any information about it anywhere. What is its read / write / re-write speeds? Does it write DVD-RW and DVD+RW? I was able to find limited info on what appears to be the previous model, P/N: 73P3294 but I found nothing about the new one.

Another question I had is about 7200RPM HDs on notebooks. I wanted to go with the faster HD, but I'm concerned about batery life and system temperature when running with these speedier drives. Anyone has any input on this issue?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,
Bruno.

No takers? :(

I know some of you have 7200RPM HDs in your notebooks? Have you had experience with 4200RPM/5400RPM HDs? Can you comment on what you think the battery life is for 7200RPM HDs?

Do you feel you notebook gets too hot because of the speedier HD?

Thanks,
Bruno.

The internal multi-burner for the T4X series is a 2X drive and is overpriced for what you get. IMHO, if you need the ability to burn DVDs, get an external burner for half the money that will burn at up to 8X.

There is no, or little, noticeable difference WRT battery life or temperature with the 7K60 HD. I have 16 of them in personal and family machines and more than 50 in client machines.

Thanks for replying, James. I appreciate it.

Nice insight about the multi-burner. I thought it would be at least an 8x burner. 2x is out of question for me. Thanks for pointing that out.

Bruno.
