T420S Ultrabay Weight Saving Cover

Hi Everyone,

Trust all is well and hope we are all ready and excited for Christmas.

I have a T420S (i was from a T40, X40, X61 background). I used to be able to get a dummy caddy or a plastic cover for weight saving purposes. But this time i dont seem to be able to get that. Anyone has any idea whether I can get a cover for my T420S Ultrabay port?

I do not think that the newer ThinkPad's have that option like the Fujitsu LifeBook's do. You could try using a HDD adapter and then removing the metal part of the tray and insert the plastic.

I had no idea of it's existence! Even has an FRU number.

The T420s ultrabay is 9.5mm while the T420 is 12.7mm.

Yes indeed! That is the thing! Not sure why they dont make the T420S Model

The HMM says that the T420s uses the same travel bezel as the T410/T410i, and it has an FRU part number: 45M2657
