Need help with XP upgrade on my T23 *PIC*

#1 Post by Cuda » Sun Dec 22, 2013 12:37 pm

I'm trying to upgrade my T23 from Win2K to XP MCE "only XP copy I own with a valid COA" anyway it installed fine but I don't know what drivers to install, there is a long list to pick from and I'm not sure what all is needed, I downloaded 2 self extracting drivers and installed them but I still can't connect to the internet. 1awc32ww for the wireless and Tpveall for the Lan Adaptor.
The T23 specs are 2647-mu8 S/N 78-kb7xb, any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to be pedantic, but by "installing" them did you run the downloaded 1AWC32WW.EXE file, then go to the C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\ directory and then execute the SETUP.EXE file?

If yes, then you might want to look at the wireless card in the MiniPCI bay and confirm it's a factory unit. Somebody could have replaced it. If it IS an original combo card, then it might be bad. However, given that I've seen may a Windows OS install halt because of a bad MiniPCI card, this may not be the case here.

You also seem to be running in Standard VGA mode. You'll need the S3 SuperSavage/IXC16 driver. As to the "Unknown device", when you find out what it is, please tell me :) . I recently went through a Windows 98 install on a T23 and I too had this entry in Device Manager. I could not figure it out, but the system seemed to be running fine, so I left it alone.

It's been a while since I did an install on a T23, but I seem to recall that the Unknown Device I had after the install was resolved by installing the Hot Key Driver that is listed under the Software and Utility heading of the download page.

If my memory is bad :? and that didn't resolve the problem then try installing the Track Point Driver and the Power Management Driver as well. One of those should take care of the problem, at least it did for me.

Thanks, I'll double-check those when I can get the system back from my friend but I'm pretty sure that all three were installed. The notes that I have here indicates they were installed 7th (Hotkey), 4th (Power) and 5th (Trackpoint), in order. In my haste to deliver the system I neglected to keep an image of the drive. I did put an image of the fresh install on the D: partition of the main drive so that I could have a snapshot of the system before he installed all of his programs.

Yes I did... I've been directed to some original T23 XP .iso files that I am going to install, hopefully that takes care of this issue.
