T43 100% CPU Usage
T43 100% CPU Usage
Hi all, I recently installed XBMC on my T43p machine running on Win7 and uses the Wake On Lan function to start-up as a media player.
What I noticed is every time when I start up my T43p machine using Wake On Lan function, the machine cpu usage will always be 100%. I can't find any process with that high usage even using Process Explorer program. If I manually start up my T43p machine, there is no such issue.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

Re: T43 100% CPU Usage
Found out that then I unchecked the "Allow this device to wake the computer" found in the Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet properties, the CPU usage drop immediately and checking it again make the it went up to 100%.
Anyone know a fix to this?
Also found out someone else is having this problem here.

Replace XBMC and/or stop using WOL.

Re: T43 100% CPU Usage
Are there any modded bios that can fix this problem where someone else had resolved this issue using another notebook found here.

Re: T43 100% CPU Usage
Well, your T43p might not be all that well-suited to run XBMC in the first place...from wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XBMC#Hardware_requirementsXBMC has greater basic hardware requirements than traditional 2D style software applications: it needs a 3D capable graphics hardware controller for all rendering. Powerful 3D GPU chips are common today in most modern computers, and even some set-top boxes, and XBMC is designed to otherwise be resource efficient. It runs well on what (by Intel Atom standards) are relatively underpowered OpenGL 1.3 (with GLSL support), OpenGL ES 2.0 or Direct3D (DirectX) 9.0 capable systems that are IA-32/x86, x86-64, ARM, or PowerPC G4 or later CPU based.[5]
When software decoding of a Full HD 1080p high-definition and high bit-rate video is performed by the system CPU, a dual-core 2 GHz or faster CPU is required in order to allow for perfectly smooth playback without dropping frames or giving playback a jerky appearance. XBMC can however offload most of the video decoding process onto graphics hardware controller that supports one of the following types of hardware-accelerated video decoding:[33] Intel's VAAPI, Nvidia's VDPAU, AMD's XvBA, Microsoft's DXVA, Apple's VDADecoder/VideoToolBox, OpenMAX, Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Media Accelerator,[34] AMLogic 8726-Mx VPU,[35] Freescale's i.MX6x series VPU, and Allwinner's CedarX/CedarV VPU.[36] By taking advantage of such hardware-accelerated video decoding, XBMC can playback most videos on many inexpensive, low-power systems as long as it contains a supported VPU or GPU.

Re: T43 100% CPU Usage
Managed to found a workaround for this!
My T43 connected to my 32" LCD TV via VGA port running XBMC is able to play all 720p videos smoothly (lag on 1080p)!
Now my T43 is a NAS + media player! Next step is find a remote control!
Thanks for all the replies!
