#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Fri Jan 03, 2014 3:28 am

Ive been trying to get my OEM IBM/Lenovo CD/DVD-RW Multi Rec drive to detect in my IBM ThinkPad 600X WinXP Pro on the IBM Seletadock III. I have everything connected IDE cable and power, the drive opens and closes when press the button, but the drive is not found under my computer. Just the HDD,Floppy and 600X DVD drive.

You mean you are trying to use a drive in the UltraBay II slot in the SelectaDock? (vs. the standard half-height IDE bay in the SelectaDock).

Have you looked at the Dock config settings in the Thinkpad Configuration software? There are a couple settings where you can enable or disable things in the dock. Even if the settings look correct, you might try cycling through disabling, reboot, enable, reboot and see if that makes any difference in either case.

Also, sometimes DVD drives don't show up properly until they have a DVD in them and the system can configure their region setting correctly. So if you haven't already done so, you might try simply inserted a factory-pressed DVD into the drive and seeing if you can run your DVD player software.

Lastly, I'm pretty sure that there was no OEM CD/DVD-RW UltraBay II drive, so if you are indeed trying to use the UltraBay II slot, then whatever drive you are using is after-market, not OEM. That shouldn't make a difference, but I'm flagging it as a potential issue if nothing else is working for you.
