Help, SN labels is falling off

#1 Post by mpcook » Mon Jan 20, 2014 8:36 pm

Usually people complain about stickers and want to know how to get them off cleanly. I have the opposite problem. My daily driver, X201, usually sits at home and only moves from room to room on occasion. This month I started teaching and I'm using the X201 in class because it's so portable. I just noticed the SN label on the bottom is seriously peeling off. Any day, it will fall off. I'd like to get it back on, glue but without damaging the case. Any ideas on best way to secure it? I also thought about peeling it off and keeping it in a safe place. However, my track record on that is poor, I am more likely to put it in a safe place and forget where that place is if I ever need it. Attached to the case is the best place, I'll always remember where it is :)

Personally I'd just get some scotch tape and slap it on, worked when I busted part of my HDD cover for my X61T.
I'd also take a photo of the s/n and keep a copy on your machine.

I'm with Saucey on this.

Ever since T60, the Windows COA stickers started using some cheap paper that peels off / wears off. Almost as if deliberate.

I started covering them with transparent sticky tape, essentially given them the lamination that existed on previous stickers. Lasts much longer and maybe once every few years I need to replace the tape, with no damage to the COA sticker.

Of course one needs to use moderately sticky tape, not the kind that sticks so hard that you will never be able to peel it off without ripping the original sticker apart.
