FS: T42 2373-WNF Only 3 months old, 8x times used

Hello,

I am selling this laptop since I got a new job and a laptop came with it.
(Don’t need 2 laptops + a desktop right? :D)

Specs:

Dothan 735 1.7Ghz 2mb cache (With silent cooling)
786mb DDR PC 2700 factory installed
(can upgrade it for you up to 2 gb, 1 new 512mb module costs around 60 euro)
Radeon 9600 64mb
Pixel Perfect Flexview SXGA screen (1400x1050 0.0 percent user marks like bright spots or dead / sub pixels)
IBM A/B/G Wlan nic (2.4Ghz / 5Ghz)
Intel Pro 1000MT 1Gbit lan
US keyboard
56k6 modem
Travelstar 7K60 60Gb 7200rpm
36 Months WORLDWIDE Warranty. (3 months used)
XP Home NL
6 Cell battery, only 7 cycles

Retail price in Holland around 3100 / 3200 euro
Asking price, around 2400 euro?

You are basically getting a new laptop with only 3 months of the warranty but with a 100% pixel perfect screen ;)

Only used it 8 times so really 0.0 user marks (no scratches, or dirty keyboard or anything else)
Always been treated like a baby :P Been carried around in a spacious Samsonite laptop bag.

Can posts 1600x1200 photos’s if requested.

Don’t like the price? Then don’t post ;) Thinkpads in the USA are a lot cheaper … so for you usa guys this laptop might not be interesting, but for European users it might be :)

Will ship world wide but Europe has my favour

I could be interested but that price is just WAY WAY to high. Excuse me for aksing this but why are peoples prices so unrealisticly high?

The exact same machine can be had for 1599 euro in Germany and thats brand new from a shop.

You are demanding 800 euro more for a used machine?! That just dosnt make sense.
But if you lower your price to something realistic then i might be interested.

Which I wont do.

Since this model has cost me 3200 euro,

You are saying you can get those specs for half price?
I Don't believe that.
Really, for 1500 euro you'l get a 40gb hdd, and an XGA screen, and if your lucky 512mb.

;)

See thats where people go wrong. The used price of a product dosnt relate to what you bought it for, it relates only to the current market price and it's condition.

Actually for that price it was an SXGA+ screen i found yesterday on a german site somewhere. It also had 512 mb ram although only the 40 GB harddrive. But an upgrade to the 60 gb harddrive is still FAR FAR off the price you are asking(and after that upgrade i would still have a spare harddrive). And while not all of them where that low in price there where several different ones available at prices around the 1600-1800 price, which is still way way cheaper than yours.

Hell i can even get a T42P with the 15" UXGA, 1 GB ram, 60 GB 7200 RPM hd and a faster GPU for less than what you are asking. Oh yeah the T42P also has a 2.0 ghz processor.
For instance you can get it here: http://www.magicdevices.de/notebooks/ib ... yge_c.html

Im not trying to be rude or anything. But the price you are asking for is just a plain rip-off and the only way that computer is gonna get sold at that price is by somebody stupid who dosnt know the actual market price of things. And i honestly wouldnt wanna see anybody from this forum get screwed over.

You have to forget what you paid for it even though its hard. But computers drop so fast in price that you should expect to get ALOT less for them when you sell them even if you only had them for a few months.
And with the price you have paid i would say that you have paid to much for it, but thats a whole other story.

I can only repeat myself - Im interested but only for a reasonable price. For the price you are asking i can ALMOST get two used models like that. Hell it's not that far of that i could get two new ones ;)

Im sorry dude. It sucks when that happens!

But since i can get a similar model like yours except for the harddrive etc. still factory sealed and unused for 1499$ which relates to around 1187 euro for a brand new machine and unopened machine.
Then i would say i would pay 1000 euro plus whatever it costs to send it to me.

And i guess the machines comes with a dutch version of windows, so i will need to buy a new keyboard and a new set of english recovery cd's on top of that.

Well let me know what you think.

It got an US keyboard ;)

But, for 1000 euro ill rather keep it for my self, since it cost me 3 times as much ;) Think on using it as an secondary laptop :D
(and the highest bid on the Dutch market is already above that :))

Btw: You could make lots of money if you import those laptops to holland because really, for Dutch understanding this model is CHEAP (here you pay up to 4200 euro for a T42P  )

Tell Me more :D
Since I am the owner of www.notebookadvies.nl I get a lot of visitors who mail me and want a cheap Thinkpad ;)

And I am also a well known member of www.tweakers.net (Holland’s biggest computer community)
( I Write laptop best buy guides for them :))

So that might work in both our advantage? ;)

About the price, Ill rather not sell it then going lower then 2200 euro.
Sorry, it’s just a too big write off in 3 months. :)

But really, pm or mail me about your little business, seems interesting ;) I might be able to help.[/i]
