I have a T61p running Windows 7 Professional. I use it for video editing with an application called Lightworks. It has been working fine.
Two days ago I did some routine Windows updates and opted to do an optional nVidia update because the machine has a Quadra FX 570M graphics card.
(The update history reports that what was updated two days ago with the optional nVidia update were: nVidia-Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, WDDM1.2, WDDM1.3, Other hardware NVIDIA Quadro FX570M.)
After the update and reboot I got the following error message: "Error while loading nView Engine: nView cannot load. This problem is usually caused by either a bad DirectX install or else corrupted NVIDIA driver files on your disk. We recommend you uninstall your NVIDIA driver, run Scandisk (or any disk check tool), re-install DirectX, and then re-install your NVIDIA driver."
Is this a good recommendation?
How do I uninstall the NVIDIA driver? I ask because there are several items among my uninstall choices: NVIDIA nView 140.62, NVIDIA WMI 2.14.0, NVIDIA Graphics Driver 327.02 and NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver 327.02. Do I uninstall all or just some.
How do I re-install DirectX?
Which NVIDIA driver do I then re-install and where do I get it?
Finally, why has the problem happened? How do I fix it? How do I avoid it in the future?
Thanks to whoever can help.
Error while loading nView engine message after update
Re: Error while loading nView engine message after update
I sure need some help here. I explored the Lenovo site and there seems to be a 64bit Windows driver for Windows 7. Is the fix I am looking for as simple as downloading this and overwriting? I am very new to Windows.
Re: Error while loading nView engine message after update
Bump.
All you smart, experienced people, please help me avoid catastrophe. I went and fixed something not broken (Windows told me to do it). Dig me out. I am just a poor Mac user.

Re: Error while loading nView engine message after update
try to uninstall latest installed drivers, if its not helping , try to uninstall all drivers and then reinstall ... well thats what i would do, but im not shure its the right / correct way .

Re: Error while loading nView engine message after update
Under Windows update there should be a restore or uninstall update and select the nVidia one.
