Problems with 2200BG in 2378-duu, SP2 and Wireless cuts in a

#1 Post by nikemen » Sun May 15, 2005 11:28 pm

So, the wireless on this T42, cuts in and out,

but sometimes, not really.

by that I mean, the wireless connects, but then the little icon has the red X in it. Sometimes there is ACTUALLY still an interenet connection, even though Windows Zero config from SP2 says, Disconnected, there is STILL an internet connection.

Somtimes, the Zero config says, disconnected, but when I double click on it, it says "do you REALLY want to disconnect from this connection"

When I use a VPN, that is where it is the worst. I connect to VPN , run a connection with work then about two minutes later, the VPN dies because I THINK the system thinks the network connection is dead, which it MAY be, but I STILL have networking.

Any thoughts? I know there isn't a great amount of detail here.

I have updated the Intel drivers, uninstalling the Sebring API, or whatever it was called.

Don't use AC yet on this machine, use it fine on other machines, but not this one.

When you hardwire the computer to your router (ethernet conection), do you have the same problem? Could be your ISP.

they are all 5.8, and don't seem to interfere with other LT's, ipaqs, wireless routers, etc.

Are you using a Linksys (or other Broadcom based) AP, by any chance?
Are any of the other notebooks using the same Intel wireless NIC? Are you running Intel driver version 9.x?

Here at home I had problems between my Linksys and my Dell notebook running with the same 2200BG wireless NIC. With Intel driver version 9.x my wireless would connect/disconnect sporadically. I read somewhere that this has to do with some energy saving feature of the Intel nic that is not compatible with the Linksys router. I had to use Intel drivers version 8.x before I saw any improvements. Now, things are pretty stable.

Bruno.

netgear

So, using a netgear WGT624, works great with all other laptops.
On THIS laptop, yes now running Intel 9.x, had 8.0.1.28 or something first
Had to unistall something like Sebring API, whatever that was.

I might try to go back to a previous driver, but I was using a previous driver previously, and that wasn't working either.
