HP G72 recovery keeps failing - any ideas

#1 Post by dwilsonfl » Sun Feb 09, 2014 10:53 pm

Yep, friend's laptop was giving him an imminent failure warning so he bought a hard drive and brought it to me. Got all the viruses off the laptop HD and his external backup drive and made recovery DVDs. Swapped out the 320GB Toshiba failing drive for a new WD 1TB one. Boot her up and start popping in the DVDs as prompted. Goes through the entire process to the "about to reboot, don;t panic if the machine starts and restarts as it loads and configures" screen and then when it reboots it says "insert a boot device and press any key."

That WD doesn't test as DOA so what gives?

Thanks,

David
(This is why I have Thinkpads.)
