No ehternet adapter found

#1 Post by trezvii » Sun Feb 16, 2014 3:41 am

Hello everyone.
After cloning MAC adress on my Ethernet adapter Intel 82577LC, the error PXE-E05 occured (in OS windows 8.1 the ethernet adapter was with yellow exclamation mark and led on the adapter had blinked).
I found in the internet the solution, using IBAUTIL in MS-DOS mode to set default configuration .
After setting to default by using "IBAUTIL -NIC=1 -devcfg" my adapter is down.
No one LED blinks and in the device manager is not found (only wifi is found).
I tried once again to use IBAUTIL, but there write error "No supported network adapters found".
In BIOS I tried to set diffirent configuration, defaults settings, but still the network adapter is not found.
I tried also to remove battery for 10 minut, but nothing happened.

Could you mind help me with this problem.

In device manager you can force it to check for devices again.

It sounds like somehow the device firmware was screwed up so it's not recognized.

Are there any unknown devices in the device manager?

Have you tried the newer version of the Intel tool - BootUtil?

The Ethernet adapter isn´t present in the list of device manager, only wifi one.
I tried use new version of Intel software bootutil (v. 18.8), but in MS-DOS it return only name of program version after any command.

Try this: remove the wifi card.
Then go into Device Manager and click on: View/Show hidden devices.
Then go into Network Adapters and UNinstall whatever you find there.
Then switch the machine off (don't restart!).
Connect your Ethernet cable and start up again.
Check Device Manager and try to go online.
Any luck?

Hi RealBlackStuff,
In the device manager my ethernet adapter Intel 82577LC was in hide mode.
I deleted all network device, inclusive bluetooth, then I shutdown laptop and power off for 5 minute.
I connected the cable to adapter and turn on but miracle did not happen and at the moment the ethernet device in not even in hide mode. I think it was in hide mode in memory from when it worked properly.

Have anyone any any other ideas? There must be some solution.

When I install the driver, there write "No Intel Network connection found on this computer. No drivers were installed".
I think that problem will solved only by rewriting a flash memory by running The Intel® Ethernet Flash Firmware Utility (BootUtil). I don't know why after typing any command in BootUtil in MS-DOS nothing is happened, only a name and version of Intel® Boot Agent is displayed.

Let's try to go back to the beginning.

Can you share the source that led you to perform the steps you mentioned with IBAUTIL?

Edit:Found some references. It appears people mentioned it being used successfully for the 82573 controller (on the T60). But maybe it is just not compatible with the 82577?

Not sure how bad the FW is messed up and whether it's possible to fix it by software, if the device is not even recognized.

Don't you have to hit Esc first at bootup to unlock that FW before you use Bootutil

The source where I read about this error: http://www.opal-rt.com/kb-article/pxe-e05-boot-error.

When I first time launched IBAUTIL and typed "IBAUTIL -NIC=1 -devcfg" the device was setted by default but unfortunately I don't remember exactly the finish message.

It's strange why IBAUTIL displays "no support adapter found", but a new utility BootUtil displays only the name and the version of Intel® Boot Agent after any command (only after command -HELP it displayed instructions).

I tried to hit ESC during booting up but nothing happen.

That source-link is about a USB-stick.
AFAIK you can also put that program on a selfbooting floppy or CD.
Tried that yet?
