How to Downsize Windows XP Startup Screen

#1 Post by gab » Mon May 16, 2005 1:42 pm

A recent post provided instructions on how to downsize the Windows XP startup screen. Now I cannot find this post. Can anyone help?

Downsize it? Are you thinking about the Display setting in the BIOS for "HV Expansion" - that stretches lower resolutions to fit the screen (or conversely shrinks them to display in a small portion at native resolution)?
IBM ThinkPad T42p (2373-7XU): 1.8GHz/1024MB, 15" UXGA, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.
T42 (2374-3VU): 1.7GHz/512MB, 14.1"SXGA+, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure about HV expansion. Does it change everything, or just the resolution of the Windows XP splash screen (the screen with the row of indicators across the bottom that light up from left to right to signify that the machine is coming up)?

The "fix" only affects the splash screen. I tried it on another computer at the time and it worked perfectly.
