Yesterday I bought a T42 for $20, just to have its SXGA+ screen for spares. The mobo was said to be bad, so I assumed a loose GPU. When I got it, it turned out that this T42 is absolutely mint. It's probably been docked all its life, so no signs of wear whatsoever, and the screen is blazing bright (Yeah, all is relative..) Except from a dead CMOS battery with according date/time and checksum faults at POST, it seems to work fine too. Factory recovery partition intact, ect. I am posting from it now.
Anyway, as the T42 specs are getting long in the tooth these days, and I am still a little suspicious on the mobo, I got an idea of throwing in a spare T43 X300 mobo I have lying around. Slightly better hardware, a 2.0GHz Win8 capable CPU, *maybe* RBS's SATA mod, and then just keep it as a mint collectible for random use. Are there any considerations at all that need to be taken when I do this swap. Physically they should be 100% identical, as should the SXGA+ from T42 vs. a T43 one. Or?
Thanks!

You'll need a card cage from the T43 which is different from the one in previous T4x series. Apart from that, CPU and RAM it's a clean swap.

Thanks! That's what I hoped and assumed.
(But good to check.. To assume has made an a** out of.. Yes you know.
Edit: Btw, I just did a recovery, and enjoyed watching the command window scroll through the steps with installing drivers, programs, etc, and in the end do a FAT32 -> NTFS conversion. Haven't seen this process in years, almost nostalgic.
