Upgrading RAM in X240 - opening the beast....

#1 Post by Mitchell » Thu Feb 27, 2014 4:01 pm

Hey everyone:

How do you open a X240? I've loosened and/or removed the base screws per the Thinkpad PDF on
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... D=PD028889

but I can't get the base cover off completely. How much force does it take?

This is really weird - why is it so hard to take the cover off?

Thanks.

Just read an X240 review the other day...
There are only eight Phillips-head screws securing the bottom cover to the base unit, but unlike the T440s, the clips on our X240 review unit were considerably harder to disengage. At a couple points we were concerned we might damage the unit, but with a bit of patience and care it eventually came off without a problem.
There are probably some "tabs". Make some coffee and take your time.

Cheers.

I have found a guitar plectrum to be most effective at freeing stubborn clips and catches...
