Login credentials for forum? How long do they last?

#1 Post by fefrie » Fri Feb 28, 2014 8:44 pm

Just curious. Seems like it's less than a week. Personally I'd prefer longer logins.

As an example, my hotmail login lasts 'forever'.

If you are asking how long your login session will last if there is no activity from you, then I believe the answer is about 7 1/2 hours. My understanding is that it's not recommended to have "forever" logins on phpBB boards as it can increase the CPU load on the server. I'd also have to say that's it not a good idea to have a "forever" login simply from a personal security standpoint. Anybody that has physical access to the computer that you've logged in from would be able to be "you".

If you are asking about the "Log me on automatically each visit" option available from the login page, then I'm not sure. I never have used the option and would assume that if you don't clear your browser's cookies, then it should work correctly.
