Backlight anomaly on R31

#1 Post by dtwalters » Sun Mar 16, 2014 7:49 am

I am having a strange anomaly on my R31 running Windows XP, SP3. This situation has been present for some time and continues after a fresh install of Windows XP and all updates.

If the computer is booted with the screen brightness having been on high during the last session, the screen backlight will not come on. In other words, the screen will be dark after it has booted. If I use the function key to turn down the screen brightness, the backlight will come on and I can adjust the screen brightness to any desired level. If the computer is rebooted while the screen brightness is on the lowest level, the backlight will be on when the computer boots. If the computer is rebooted while the screen brightness is on high, the backlight will be off when the computer boots, but will (usually) come back on if the screen brightness is turned down.

Has anyone else experienced this anomaly?
