nex x1c 2gen arrived yesterday

#1 Post by k0NRaD » Thu Mar 20, 2014 5:25 am

the x1c seems to be nice, but I'm completely [censored] off by windows 8.1 or whatever is installed. The last windows version I used is windows 3.1... I'm planning to wipe everything and install fedora 20, but I'm stuck in creating the recovery images (just in case I have to sell it). I did a dd of the whole drive but the image is too big for storing and restoring purposes, so I wonder if there is a way to burn some dvds. I see that windows has a create a recovery drive but it is a program by m$ not by lenovo. Is there a way to perform what i need? the thinkvantege software does not seem to be installed.

thanks

Have you tried Ghost 4 Linux? It has the ability to split the disk images it creates, but I've never tried it as I've only used the Click'n'Clone function.

OK, you'll keep the original, older k0NRaD.
The other one will be removed.
Just synchronize your setups...

I am curious if the FN/Volume "switching keys" will still function the same way on a Linux machine, or if it won't work at all.

Windows 8.1's built-in tool for creating recovery media only works with a 16GB or larger USB drive.

That being said, I booted from a USB drive containing Terabyte Data's BootIt Bare Metal, and imaged all the partitions to a USB external hard drive.
