Sudden battery drop (T30 batt in T22)

#1 Post by Nolonemo » Tue May 17, 2005 8:49 am

I have a IBM T30 battery in my T22, XP Pro SP2.

The battery seems to discharge normally down to 20%, but then the charge drops to below 5% within a couple of minutes. Any idea what's going on?

Battery stats are:
mfgr Panasonic02
FRU IBM-02k7037
design capacity 47.52 Wh
full charge capacity 45.03 Wh
mfg date 9/9/03
first use 3/05
cycles 27

I'm using Battery Maximizer, my power settings are:
LCD bright 5
CPU speed adaptive
sytem hibernate never
When battery reaches 20%, Maximizer is set to go into endurance mode and lower the LCD brightness.

My XP power setting are:
Low battery alarm action: no action
Critical battery alarm action: hibernate at 3%

This behavior only started a couple days ago. Before then, when I hit 20% the LCD would dim and the battery would continue to discharge at a normal rate. Now, as I said, the LCD dims, and the battery level drops like a rock.
