Are all 10.4'' screen the same? (240 vs 365)

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Are all 10.4'' screen the same? (240 vs 365)

#1 Post by paul.str » Thu Apr 03, 2014 9:31 pm

So, I am currently in the process of buying a thinkpad 240 from a member on this forum.

However, the screen is broken.
I can get a complete replacement top case + screen for $50.
This seems a little high.

There are some bare LCDs on ebay right now that are IBM brand 10.4'' screens for around $20.

I am looking at buying a screen intended for a Thinkpad 365. (part #46H7986) I would then put it in the 240.
Is this a silly idea?

The 10.4" panel for the Thinkpad 365 has a resolution of 640x480, while the one for the 240 is 800x600.

According to Thinkwiki, http://thinkwiki.org/wiki/TFT_display, the 240 shares the same LCD panel as the 365X, 365XD, 535, 535E, 535X, 755CX, 760C, 760L, 760LD, 820, 850, i Series 1200, and TransNote.

Happy hunting. :D
