T520 2720QM work with 135W adapter?

#1 Post by buca84 » Wed Apr 09, 2014 11:12 am

I want to buy a ThinkPad T520.
I would like to upgrade to a later a 2720QM processor.
I have a 4337 dockind station. They would work with a 135W adapter or only 170W?
If the latter, then what should be the 4337?

The 170W power adapter will NOT fit the 4337 station, nor will it even fit the T520 in the first place. It's keyed to only fit the W520, W530, and 4338 dock.

The 135W- and more importantly, the 90W- will be able to comfortably power that machine (scroll down to the 10th post) on or off the docking station (it's just a glorified port multiplier after all).

And make no mistake; the 170W brick is only keyed like that to force you to buy more stuff from Lenovo- though you can just shave the 'ears' down and it will work in normal power adapters; it's actually physically smaller than the 135W brick.
W520 (i7-2720M, Quadro 1000M), T41, 600E
Just say no to the ThinkBook Pro.
