UEFI & GPT

#1 Post by indicium » Wed Apr 09, 2014 6:04 pm

OK guys, I searched the internet and haven't found an answer, so I'm asking it here. All the instructions and guides say to wipe all partitions clean if your using UEFI and GUID Partition Table, however my question is can you use the existing GPT to install a different OS? My example, my new W530 came with Win 8 pro and UEFI & GPT, can I use the current GPT or do I have to delete and start over to install Window 7 x64 with UEFI & GPT?

Not knowing what would happen if I left the partitions, I decided to delete all the partitions and start from scratch since this was a clean install. I booted off a USB Flash Drive and the install went great and a lot faster than I expected. It recreated all the GPT partitions and now I'm ready to install drivers and updates.
