X240 and intel 7260NGW wireless AC card

#1 Post by Orth » Mon Apr 21, 2014 5:19 am

Hello, everyone

Does anyone have any workaround about how to make it work in X240? BIOS reports 1802 error - Unauthorized networc card...bloody Lenovo's whitelist.

Originally X240 was supplied with 7260 Wireless-N PCI-E card (VID/PID - 8086/08B2, subsys - C2628086)
And there is also whitelist mentioned in BIOS:

The 11AC card I need to work has 8086/08B1, C0708086.
People say, that it can be a trouble to patch BIOS with the same way it was doable on "classic thinkpads" due to some flash protection.

I guess the more reliable way is to modify PCI-E card own VID/PID/SUBSYS.

hello and welcome to the forum..

for myself I don't mess with the bios..
others DO with great success it seems..

I would sure try changing the card so it reports whatever the whitelist wants to see..

but give thinkpad owners and mechanics will be able to help with this better than I can..
