Thing is I forgot it long time ago, but I used to enter BIOS using FP. Then my FP sensor went bad, and only now I ordered and installed the new top panel with FP, color, touch, etc. Basically FP now works in Windows. But when I go to BIOS FP does not light up like it used to. Anyway to make it ask me for my FP in BIOS again?

Re: I forgot my BIOS password!
Sounds like you set and forgot the supervisor password. If that is the case you will need to remember the password or be prepared to replace the MB sooner or later. The hardware maintenance manual have a write up on setting passwords.
Re: I forgot my BIOS password!
That's what I forgot yes. Shouldn't the Finger Print reader allow me to swipe my finger to enter BIOS and change settings?

Eh... for all I know you can just replace the BIOS chip in worst case.
On desktops it's just as case of pulling the BIOS battery and using the Clear CMOS jumper

Solution #1 xxxx cost is $180.
Solution #2 yyyy and it is cheaper.
Do you think solution #2 will work on my W520?

It's been mentioned here before: passwords are NOT stored in the BIOS.jcvjcvjcvjcv wrote:Eh... for all I know you can just replace the BIOS chip in worst case.
