Thinkpad Software Installer Crashes - Need Help!

I just installed the newest version of the ThinkPad Software Installer (v3.10.0504) (I installed it because the older version I had was having these same problems too and I thought upgrading to the newer version would fix them) and I cannot get it to connect to the Internet to see if there are newer drivers, etc. available for download and installation on my IBM T42p (2373-Q1U). Everytime I try to get it to connect to the internet, it just hangs and I eventually have to manually shut it down via the Task Manager. Any ideas or help? Thanks!

If you have a firewall running, try modifying it to enable access to Software Installer. It just an idea, but might help. BTW, how do you connect to the Internet?
