Thinkpad 760cd no video

#1 Post by gkearns@luxcom.com » Wed May 18, 2005 8:47 am

I have an old 760cd thinkpad that will not give any video.
I looks to boot fine from a floppy or the hard drive but No video, not even ram counting.

Any idea as what to do.

Thanks in advance

Have you tried powering up the computer with an external display attached?

If the computer shows video an an external screen, then you probably have a bad LCD and/or inverter. If no video shows no video, either you have a loose connection somewhere inside the computer or you have a board somewhere that's gone bad.

Try reseating your dimm adapter card on the bottom of the machine.

I have video when using the connector in the back, but not on the lcd.

I can lift the key board and get at the hard drive, floppy, and battery but I cannot figure out how to get at the rest to check for a lose cable ect.

I have removed the 4 screws in the back...no help.

Does any know how to get at the rest ?

Thanks

Gord

If you get external video but not on the LCD, then chances are your LCD and/or it's inverter are shot.
