1440x900 display work with Intel R61 ??

#1 Post by natgab » Mon Apr 28, 2014 1:36 pm

Upgrade display for R61:

I have a R61 with Intel GPU and the stock 1280x800 (WXGA) display that works fine. I was wondering if anybody has experience swapping out and upgrading to the 1440x900 (WXGA+) display. Please note that I have the stock Intel X3100 GPU w/ 256MB RAM, and not the NVIDIA with dedicated memory.

Would the increased size be noticeable or would it be more of a hit on performance due to the extra size? I saw that new display sell for $60 USD on eBay. I'm only considering it now because I recently had to install an inverter on my old X40 and found that it was much easier than I thought. I love IBM / Lenovo's great manuals that make it so easy to replace anything on these machines. TIA

P.S. Just realized I have to update my other thread about the X40 :D :D

Just swap out the LCD panel, that's all.
Once back in Windows, adjust the screen resolution, that's all.

--Thanks, just wanted to confirm that the Intel chip has enough power for the increased resolution. I will just go and check on the LCDs, see if there are vendors close to me.
