Replacement for Card Bus cage on my TP T60

#1 Post by warp4dennis » Tue Apr 29, 2014 2:56 pm

I would like to be able to use both slots on my TP T60. But unfortunately it's not possible because one slot can only be used for Card Bus card. I would prefer having my T60 the same way as my T42, being able to use both slots for either a Type I or II Card Bus card. Does such a Card Bus cage exist, or am I out of luck?

You know, I don't think it does.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Why would you prefer 2xCardbus, instead of 1xCardbus + 1xExpresscard?

The reason I thought I wanted a replacement was because I own two Card Bus reader adapters
that I use.

What do they read? It is possible you can get an ExpressCard adapter to replace one of them. Would be far simpler and cheaper than replacing the cage, even if it was possible.

I have since been trying to do that very thing, but the Internet information on an Express Card reader is very very limited. Many have only the price and where you are to send the money and no more.
It hard for me to tell which of the offers is the right one for me. The chips that I am using are the
CF and the SDHC.

There are plenty of good ExpressCard SDHC/SDXC readers.

Fast ones are expensive, such as this:
http://www.amazon.com/Sonnet-Technologi ... 004YR8AJI/

There are much cheaper ones, like this:
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-ExpressCa ... 00141LHHY/

It won't be as fast, but should still deliver read/write speeds around 20MB/s.
