Flashed Middleton - SLIC version updated, but nothing else?

#1 Post by chubbyfatazn » Wed Apr 30, 2014 3:12 am

I recently got a native Penryn board (42W7875) and as I usually do immediately went about flashing Middleton's BIOS. Going back into the BIOS showed the BIOS version hadn't been updated; it was still v2.12. Booted into Windows and fired up Aida64, which reported that the SLIC version was now 2.1... popped in an Atheros AR9380 wifi card I had lying around, and the machine failed to boot (so no whitelist removal).

I'm using the same bootable USB drive that I've used to successfully flash two other T61s and an R61, so that seems fine to me. I've seen posts here indicating that the user successfully flashed Middleton on the same board FRU. What gives?

Thanks!

First install the regular Lenovo BIOS 2.29, then flash M's BIOS over it.
Failing to boot does not necessarily mean that the WL was not removed!
Your mobo (Intel gfx) is for a 15.4" widescreen.

No, only a method to fix a failed update.
Also: in BIOS Config/Network/Flash over LAN must be ENabled.

I meant that it failed with the "Error 1802: unauthorized network card" message. In any event will try again after flashing to 2.29 (although one of the other T61s updated to v2.29 after the flash). Thanks!

You must remove that 'faulty' card before you flash!

Yeah I know. I "flashed" M using a stock 4965AGN card before trying with the Atheros card
