Identifying X200s broken monitor resolution
Identifying X200s broken monitor resolution
Hi > The LCD screen on my X200s is seriously broken. When switched on looks like a broken window (in technicolor) and no data display. How can I find out which resolution LCD was fitted, to get a replacement. I understand they are not easily interchangeable.
I tried the Lenono site but they could only give me the two types fitted to this model.

What are the 7-character TYPE and PRODUCTID on the sticker on the laptop-bottom?
Looks like 7466-CTO and 74663JU

Re: Identifying X200s broken monitor resolution
Welcome to the forum!
Could you post your machine type here? It's a 7 digit code you can find in a black & white sticker on the bottom side of the laptop. This will tell the original resolution your laptop was shipped with.
Regards
T
Edit: RBS types faster

Try your Serial-number (without the dash) and TYPE 7470 here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... ookup.page
Then find the part # for the screen.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear about your LCD.
If other than the LCD there are no problems with the computer, you can connect an external monitor, boot the operating system, and check from there. The OS should show you the maximum resolution supported by the internal LCD, and you can get the exact panel type through tools like Everest / AIDA 64.

Re: Identifying X200s broken monitor resolution
Your model/type doesn’t come up for me but you can determine the resolution by examining the lid assembly.
It’s a WXGA 1280 if:
If the lid top has a seam running left to right in front of the TP logo.
The LED indicator sticker ends in a curve immediately after the WiFi icon
If there is a webcam or a blank plate that would allow a webcam to be installed.
It’s a WXGA+ 1440 if:
The lid is one solid piece (no seam on top)
The LED indicator sticker continues past the WiFi icon, over the LCD cable notch and ends at the square screw cover near the Lenovo label on the lower left of the bezel.
The LCD bezel has no provision for a webcam.
As you seem to have already figured out, you’ll need to replace the LCD with one of the same resolution or do a complete lid swap to change resolution.

Re: Identifying X200s broken monitor resolution
I just pulled up an X200s WXGA+ review on NotebookReview, and looks that the hinges are also black, not silver. Or is not on all of them?

Re: Identifying X200s broken monitor resolution
I have one WXGA+ x201s and two x200s WXGA+ lid assemblies and all have silver hinges.
And a WXGA x201 which also has silver hinges.
Have never seen black hinges on an x200/201.

Re: Identifying X200s broken monitor resolution
Thanks everybody. Followed RBS10000 suggestion and eventually got a part number but no specs on the Lenovo Website > Only detail was a 12.1 WXGA LCD Doh! Then when I got to the detailed Parts list that one was not listed!
Then did a Google search on the part number & got the full spec sheet & a dozen suppliers. It was a 1280x800.
Lots of useful info > Thanks guys

Struck me as odd as well, as I never heard of black hinges on this model myself.
