No backlight after t520 lcd upgrade

#1 Post by drwatson32 » Thu May 22, 2014 5:33 pm

Hello guys,

I'm at my wits end after carefully following this guide to the T. http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Upgrading+t ... splay/9763

I have the exact lcd panel specified and took every step slowly and carefully (this is still a new machine by my standards and am far from ham-fisted with it.) I don't believe that I stressed any cables or harmed any connectors, but when I buttoned everything back up and fired her up, I could see that the screen was working, but no backlight at all. My first thought was to disassemble again and reseat the cable to panel connection. No results. Next I tried putting the old panel back in, which will not light up either as of now. I've also tried reseating the cable going to the LED sub board and then removed the keyboard and reseated the cables on the motherboard end... still nothing.

What am I overlooking? I'm really dreading finding out the fuse, on the motherboard, is the culprit, but I really can't see how I'd have blown it. Thanks in advance!

P.S. LONG time forum lurker... ex Thinkpads- 600x, t43(rip), t500 Current- several t42's, t23, and this t520 with no backlight.

Same problem here too.

There is a solution for T400 at the end of the page, however I am unable to find these fuses since the motherboard is different. I have tried another LCD panel that does work on another laptop, so the problem is on the motherboard side or the cable. The LED indicators on the LCD sub card do work.

Can anyone tell where the LED fuses are located on ThinkPad T520 so we can jump them or rewire the fuses?
