Upgrading my r50p

#1 Post by jayrobs » Thu May 19, 2005 12:49 pm

I am considering upgrading some hardware items on my R50p. Like new hard drive and maybe a dvd-r drive. Where is a good place to get these at and how big should i go on the hard drive? and are there any other things that can be upgraded on my thinkpad. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A good place to get hard drives is www.newegg.com and/or www.zipzoomfly.com. You can get up to 60 gig @7200 RPM from Hitachi (they recently announced a 100 gig 7200 RPM but I don't know of anyplace with them in stock). Otherwise, in 5400 RPM I believe the largest available is 100 gig.

I bought my replacement drive from www.zipzoomfly.com and have purchased numerous components from both of these vendors, they are recommended and quite reputable.
Thinkpad T420 | Core i-5 2520M | 16gb RAM | 120gb Intel 520 SSD + 750gb 7200 RPM | 6300 N | Ubuntu 12.04 x64
Desktop: AMD FX-8350 (8 cores) | 32gb ECC RAM | 240gb Intel 530 SSD + 1tb 7200 RPM | Ubuntu 14.04 x64 | HP ZR24w
Previous Thinkpads: A21m, R40, X61, T410
