x41 tablet bios mini-pci whitelist
Looking into a strange project concerning an x41 tablet I recently aquired but came across alarming issues that I hope to overcome... I plan to convert the mini-pci to standard pci and connect a low end graphics card to experiment with dogecoin mining. I have read that the bios in most Thinkpads will not let the system run unless the mini-pci and daughter card are on the whitelist... Searching for an answer, I have found custom bios-es for nearly every other thinkpad but mine. I wonder, is there a bios availible for this system or would it need to be done myself? I see this guide here... Is it a viable solution?http://art.ified.ca/?page_id=218

Welcome to the forum.
Before you try this, first press F1 at boot to go into BIOS and check your current BIOS and ECP versions.
(latest BIOS: 2.6, latest ECP: 1.02).
If older, install latest BIOS first, followed by ECP, both from Lenovo.
BIOS: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail. ... MIGR-60194
ECP: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-60191
When done, get this modded BIOS that will add Slic2.1 and remove both errors 1802 (whitelist) and 2010 (non-IBM HD):

Not sure if " convert the mini-pci to standard pci" is possible, never tried it.

Re: x41 tablet bios mini-pci whitelist
Would the X41 be a viable mining machine? IE, would the potential profit from mining outweigh the cost to run it? I know it uses the ULV CPU, but it isn't exactly a powerhouse.
I know mining will use more of the GPU than CPU, is there one that is powerful enough on this machine? Does it require an external PSU?

And what is mining? (other than go underground and dig up coal)

I would say no. The Intel GMA900 integrated GPU does not support OpenCL or CUDA, so it's completely useless at mining cryptocurrencies. The Pentium M CPU is way too slow to be worthwhile. You might as well mine on a modern smartphone.
